{tea for three}

Over spring break I had the opportunity to shoot some of my favorite little girls and their crazy adorable cousin at the botanical gardens (one of my favorite places in Corpus). After visiting reptiles, laying around with butterflies, and some general goofing around these three let me in on their tea party. And by the way, powdered sugar doughnuts are amazing. I don’t remember the last time I had one, but if I wasn’t preoccupied with my camera I may have ruined their tea by eating all the snacks. AND you should know these girls picked out their dresses ALL BY THEMSELVES. And the vision here is all mom. How lucky is she that her sweet girls girls are as fun and creative as she is?!?

Miss Molly got into the modeling spirit right from the start. The other two weren’t quite feeling it yet, but she made these priceless all on her own!

Here we go! There were some “normal” pictures at this spot to, but this goofiness is my favorite. And Delilah’s dress laid out behind her… gorgeous.Image

Is he too cool for school or what?Image

Another keeper. Those faces! It’s like they KNEW this was going to be a good one.

{Best tip to parents – let your kids’ show off their personality during a shoot. Even if you don’t get the perfectly posed smile you imagined you will have pictures you cherish even more!}ImageA sweet moment amidst the crazy. And have you noticed those saddle shoes yet?Image

Oh. My. Goodness.Image

A new spot picked by Finn and “posed” by the kiddoes.ImageImage

And the tea.

Vintage dishes, powdered doughnuts, a garden….. I don’t think a morning could get much better than this.Image

This might be my favorite. Well, along with all the other ones that are also my favorite but if we’re throwing the “f” word around let’s stick it on this one.Image

Clink.ImageImage

A different perspective for a different style of party-goers.Image

I’ll stop interrupting here and just let them enjoy the tea. ImageImageImageImageOh! And in case you want it for yourself, I’ve called dibs on that dress when it’s ready to be passed on. I am also currently tracking down a pair of saddle shoes for an infant.

Thank you, thank you, Michelle for coming up with this awesome idea and enlisting me to implement it!!!

{six month twins}

These two handsome guys were born to close friends just days before my sweet Indie so they are extra special to us. I can’t believe they are already SIX {seven at this point} months old! But is there a more fun age? It was a little tricky getting the boys in the same shot as one would tip over, or roll over, or pull on his brother… But we managed a pretty successful shoot!

We did most of these pictures on a white bed; my new favorite way to photograph babies. I love the “lifestyle” look of the boys just hanging out on Mommy’s bedspread.

I always strive to capture actions that are specific to each baby or child so I just had to catch Mason sucking his thumb.

Love that he is looking right at me.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Eeeeeeeeeee! That gummy Mason smile!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And the eyelash pic, just for his Mommy.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And sweet Alex. Both boys were all about their toes.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

More thumb. Someone was getting tired.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Such handsome brothers.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ahhhh Alex. Those eyes.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Cannot believe I managed to get simultaneous smiles!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From the time I’ve got to spend with Alex I recognize this look. Glad I caught it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Eyes on Mommy.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For Daddy.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

One of my favorites. I love how Alex i just slightly leaning into Mason. I think this might be a little indicative of their relationship.

Everyone loves some baby feet.

Thanks again, friends, for letting capture this fun age!

{Caroline & Jacob}

At the beginning of November I spent one morning at the beach with the sweetest brother and sister. They took a few minutes to warm up, but it wasn’t long before C was inventing poses, showing off some karate moves and giving me the ultimate missing teeth grin. J was really just interested in enjoying the beach but we still managed to get him in the frame.

These kids are SERIOUSLY cute!

Mom requested some black & white options and so many of these were perfect for that!

I LOVE the colors they chose!

Hello little model.

J did NOT want to sit still until he found a hole in the sand to stick his finger in. Whatever it takes!
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I can’t get enough of the colors here! Her dress with all those yellow flowers – so pretty!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnd we ended on this note. Ha! Mom suggested a kiss and C took that SEROUSLY. Freaking LOVE this!

{Tidden Family}

This is a BEAUTIFUL family of four that I find to be super inspiring. They really get out and DO things! Kids’ workshops at HomeDepot, family 5K’s, regular date night, family fun days…. you name it. One day I will have the energy to follow in their footsteps, right? These two sweet girls are already going to grow up with the best memories of doing things together, so I was pretty honored {EXCITED!} when they ask me to be a part of making a special Christmas memory for them.

And seriously their card turned out AMAZING!

Right off the bat this one was a favorite. It looks like they are glowing!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fun, happy girls!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Had to throw in a couple extras of the goofy girls having a blast! I love catching candids like this.

One of my FAVORITE pictures I’ve taken. Ever. What a perfect beauty.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hmmmmm…. do you think they painted this wall downtown in the middle of the night to go with their color scheme?

SWEET SISTERS!

{self -family- portraits}

2013 new year’s resolution. Can I make one in February? Keep up with the blog!  I always intend to and by the time I finish a session and post a few to the Facebook page and get the gallery on the website…… I kind of forget. LAME.

So. I am on it. Starting now.

I’m going to do my best to go a little bit back in time to November when the crazyfunbusyexciting Christmas card shoots began. I LOVED getting to shoot some favorite past clients, relatives AND new faces. I shared almost nothing for fear of spoiling someone’s card so I am excited to finally sit down and post away!

First I must say how incredibly awesome it was to receive cards with pictures from these sessions. Seriously SO COOL. Ever wonder what people do with cards? I keep them. Every year. Drives my husband nuts. But this year those cards gave me an excuse to hang onto them that he can’t argue with.

THANK YOU FRIENDS!

That’s enough rambling, let’s kick this off with the attempt to capture my own family using a tripod and remote. The main goal was to get us all IN THE FRAME. We mostly accomplished that.

The pile of legs and the look on Knox’s face make me smile. They also divert my gaze from the duct tape on the bottom of my shoe. Don’t worry, that nice guy in the photo with us got me a replacement pair for Christmas.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This one is hanging framed in the living room now.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The next two are so similar but so individually sweet I couldn’t decide. I love something about the first that I can’t pinpoint, but then the second. Ahhh that little propped foot. And the interaction. I love capturing people interacting.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ummm the guy’s are cute. Indie looks concerned. Wary. I must’ve not been quite ready or  I was trying to ignore Knox.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Do you think Chris wanted to do pics with the red wall because it would make him look good? He was right.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Melt. My. Heart.

If ONLY the rest of Knox was in the picture. I guess this trouble when trying to center your family with a tripod is that sometimes a particular family member doesn’t stay where they were placed.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

If you think Indie looks like she is trying to figure out what the heck her brother is doing, I am pretty sure you would be right.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Little model on the move {always}.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Color. Black and white. Color. Blackandwhite. Color. B&W….. you decide.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Success! Except for the baby panty-flasher. <—drives me insane!

I kept fixing it and then when we finally get a great picture of everyone I forgot.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

More of the boys. These mean I was testing the lighting and the placement.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

LOVE.

{Notice the baby is asleep. Don’t let her fool you, she doesn’t do that any more.}

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

But wait. I like this one too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And ending it on a good note.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Final Product!

Rainy Day Black & Whites

I got a NEW CAMERA for Christmas! I haven’t had much of chance to learn it (yet), but spent a little time playing with it this afternoon. Knox has been loving sitting in a bucket in a bucket and little sister was fat and happy after her 5 month photo shoot so I stuck them together for some forced sibling interaction. The only way to get the big one to do much with the little one is to catch him in a bucket where he can’t move much and drop her in on top. Snap a few pics in monotone and it looks sweet even IF he was begging to be let out. {And I won’t say he was…. but I won’t say he wasn’t….}
